Some Indian food I found at the Asian grocery store (and also a middle eastern natural foods bulk store)
You could also cook these by emptying the contents of the pouch into your pots and heating them up that way. I didn’t here because I didn’t have a grill at this camping site (we just did a one night stop to sleep because we were slightly lost)
I also didn’t feel like cleaning a lot of dishes since it was late we spent the day driving and then the evening trying to figure out where we were. 😛 It must have been nearly 10pm when I made this video!
Good times and adventure though 🙂
so it's our first night and usually because of travel and getting to camp late I usually bring something really easy to eat and I saw these at I think it was the Asian store and I saw them at a natural store they're like meals ready to eat they're come in little packets so I've got some mashed vegetables and sauce and I have some curry cottage cheese enriched tomato gravy and I just got a Bistro Indian style curry basmati rice so hopefully these taste good I'm just boiling a pot of water and I'm just going to stick the three packets in the boiling water and heat them up that way and hopefully we have a yummy meal these are actually quite cheap they're two bucks each and for 300 grams of food I think that's not shabby they weigh a little bit so for backpacking you know it's some added weight but I usually always have something dumped in a pot heat it up type meal for the first night the rest of the meals are pretty much dehydrated so I'll see you when we're ready for the pot so here I am just heating it up the water is cold at the moment so I figured by the time it warms up and comes to a proper boil that the contents of the pouches should be pretty hot I will have to rotate inside the pot so the important thing with clicking this way since these packets are not meant to be heated up you must keep them in the water we one of the corners of the white packets is touching the top of the pot and it melted we bit but we caught it in time and shoved underneath and the rice packet which is meant for the microwave seems to be holding up a little bit better but all in all I fished them out every now and then in beginning and massage them up a bit to mix the content so it heats evenly but we're nearing boiling I can see bubbles forming in the bottom so we should be pretty close so here we are we've got the rice I think this is the curry with the cheese and that's the vegetable curry telly it smells pretty good although you know if you say hunger is the best seasoning I'm pretty darned hungry those first bite not bad well it's got a bit of a kick to it kind of at first almost tastes like Chef Boyardee and then you get the Indian spices that kick in so this is a cottage cheese one looks like meat mmm my spices on that one are much much nicer I don't think my partner got any cheese in his hmm not the cheese wins let's taste more Indian that kind of tastes like Indian meets Chef Boyardee but I mean camping I can't really complain on all I think this is going to be really good meal it's gonna really warm us up after being rained on for a bit nice is all right it's got a lot of cumin in it which isn't my favorite herb spice rather but not very very good meal so for I think that was total maybe six bucks for both of us for both packets of food and which were two bucks each so four bucks and well I imagine the rice was around three bucks so okay seven dollars not too shabby not too shabby at all
